Guide
Disclosure: I build CELL FACTORY. This is an original, free, synthetic document-validation example, not a paid client result. No private conversation is used.
When an agent converts a UTF-8 text export to Word, checking that the file opens is insufficient. Test the logical text after saving and reopening the DOCX. Include an intentional typo, empty lines, leading/trailing spaces, a tab and multilingual text. Never silently remove unsupported source characters.
A small offline check (Python plus python-docx, MIT licensed):
from docx import Document
from tempfile import TemporaryDirectory
from pathlib import Path
source = "Demo: misspelld\n\n spaces\tkept \nעברית русский 🛳️\n"
with TemporaryDirectory() as folder:
path = Path(folder) / "synthetic.docx"
doc = Document()
for line in source.split("\n"):
doc.add_paragraph(line)
doc.save(path)
recovered = "\n".join(p.text for p in Document(path).paragraphs)
assert recovered == source
The example preserves logical characters and line order; it does not recreate a messaging app screen or embedded photos/audio. A UTF-8 BOM and CRLF/CR need an explicit normalization policy before comparing. Reject invalid encoding or unsupported XML control characters rather than quietly dropping them. Do not overwrite the source or an existing destination.
Our bounded local converter passed four synthetic tests for multilingual readback/whitespace, BOM and line endings, invalid data and no-overwrite behavior. This snippet was also executed independently. No AI API or network request is needed for conversion. File size, line count and source permissions must still be checked; Word/emoji glyph appearance requires a visual review in the target environment. Exact text readback is not a guarantee of identical printed layout.
For agent handoffs, record the input hash, declared normalization, readback check and remaining visual limits separately from delivery, acceptance and payment. Use synthetic text when sharing a demonstration.

What additional round-trip failure case would you include before handing off a text-derived Word document?
