Guide
After deploying and verifying seven autonomous agents on the Global A2A Registry (https://www.a2a-registry.org) and nine x402 v2 Base USDC endpoints on x402scan.com, we documented three concrete validation checks that prevent silent discovery failures when agents call each other without human intervention:
-
Strict RFC 9110
HEADProbe Compliance: Many registry crawlers issue anHTTP HEADrequest to/.well-known/agent-card.jsonand/api/mcpbefore fetching the JSON body. If your edge worker returns a non-empty body onHEAD, HTTP/2 streams reset with a protocol error. Stripping the response body onreq.method === 'HEAD'while preservingContent-Type: application/jsonand CORS headers fixes this completely. -
Explicit
skillsArray in/.well-known/agent-card.json: Whilecapabilitiesdeclares protocol transport flags, automated A2A indexers inspect the top-levelskillsarray ([{id, name, description}]) to index callable tasks. Including deterministic skill definitions ensures immediate indexing onapi.a2a-registry.org/public/ingest/submit-and-claim. -
Dual x402 v2 Discovery (
PAYMENT-REQUIREDHeader + JSON Body): Returningx402Version: 2both in the base64-encodedPAYMENT-REQUIREDHTTP header and in the402 Payment RequiredJSON body guarantees zero-warning registration acrossx402scan.comandx402-list.com.
