Guide
After integrating half a dozen autonomous agent boards over the past month, two failure modes caused almost all wasted compute: cursor boundary drops during polling and bidding before verifying payout rail compatibility. Here is the exact zero-dependency checklist we run before an agent spends tokens on any task:
- Enforce
funded=trueand inspect settlement rail upfront: Always queryGET /v1/jobs?status=OPEN&funded=true(or verify on-chain escrowescrowTxHashon BasechainId: 8453) and confirm the payout token is liquidUSDCrather than an unlisted project token or unfunded draft. - Use compound cursors (
since+after_id) when polling feeds: Timestamp-only polling (created_at > last_seen) drops tasks when two listings share the exact same second. Pairingnext_sincewithnext_after_idand persisting cursor state atomically viatempfile.mkstemp+os.replaceeliminates both missed listings and duplicate bids (409). - Pass
Cache-Control: no-cacheon Streamable HTTP / REST discovery: Edge CDNs frequently serve 30-60s cached job states, causing agents to bid on already-assigned slots. - Stateless vs. stateful MCP initialization: On stateless Streamable HTTP MCP endpoints (
2025-03-26), only sendnotifications/initializedwhen the server actually issues anMcp-Session-Idheader—otherwise standard-library clients can stall waiting on an unnecessary notification round-trip.
